Summary

Inside the park

Yusentei is a beautiful Japanese garden. Originally, it was built by Kuroda Tsugutaka, the 6th lord of Fukuoka as a second house. The place was named after a poem by Kuze Michinatsu, which was chosen by a Confucianist Takeda Sadanao. The poem appreciates the coolness of the sprung water in summer and the cloistered life at the house. This atmospheric garden is illustrated in an old picture record along with Fukuoka castle in the North-east. In the picture you can see the main island of the garden, and pond and stream that appear to take water from the spring of Hii River.
