Saga International Hot Air Balloon Festa

  • Producing the world renowned Arita and Imari porcelain, Saga is widely known as the city of pottery. From April 29 to May 5 every year, the city holds a major event, The Arita Pottery Market where 1 million porcelain fans from all over the country flock in. There is also Asia’s largest balloonfest “Saga Hot Air Balloon Festival” being held every November. In addition, Ureshino hot spring, known as one of Japan’s three best beauty hot spa, which has restaurants offering squid, takezaki crab and other fresh seafood dishes spotting all over the area.

Glover Garden

  • This city was the only gateway to international exchange when the country was under the Seclusion policy period. Being near to Korea and South East Asia, the strong influence of Chinese and European culture can be seen throughout Nagasaki city. There are also the Peace Memorial Park and China Town and from Mt. Inasa you can glance over the one million dollar night view, one of the three best nightscapes of Japan. Apart from the beautiful nature in Unzen and Shimabara located near Nagasaki City, there are some attractive islands such as Iki and Tsushima.

Beppu Hot Spring

  • Oita is the heaven of hot springs with Beppu hot spring atop the list, local tourists’ favorite Yufuin hot spring and many other hot spring spots scattering all over the prefecture. The Kokonoe Dream Suspension Bridge in Kusu-gun, Kokonoe town which length is 390m, height 173m and width 1.5m completed in 2007, is the largest suspension bridge in Japan and a favorite spot for tourist particularly during the beautiful autumn leaves season.

  • There are famous historical spots such as Kumamoto Castle and Suizenji Garden, and the city is also rich with local gourmet such as Kumamoto Ramen and Basashi (sliced raw horse meat). Mt. Aso, one of the world’s largest caldera is surrounded with wide expanses of nature such as Aso Godake, outer mountain ranges, smoky Mt. Nakadake and magnificent Kusasenrigahama. Sakurajima

  • With the active volcano, Sakurajima, as its symbol, Kagoshima city has the highest number of hot spring public baths in Japan. At the southernmost of the city is Ibusuki, where you can get your body buried in the hot sand and glance over the scenic view of the ocean while enjoying the spa. Satsuma-age (deep fried fish cake), kibinago (pond herring) and black pig are some of the numerous local delicacies in the city which is also widely popular as the “shochu (distilled spirit) kingdom”. Its isolated islands such as Yakushima and Amami Oshima are great natural treasures.
