- Tenjin Area
- The heart of Fukuoka city where department stores, fashion featured buildings, major banks, and office buildings are located next to another on both sides of Watanabe-dori Main Street. Daimyo, Imaizumi and Kego area which are within a walking distance from Tenjin are filled with individual shops, fancy cafes and hideout restaurants. Let's stroll through the area while checking your favorite shops. The area provides the most convenient access to the destinations since it has many transportation facilities including bus stop for 100yen loop bus connecting between JR Hakata station and Tenjin, Tenjin subway station, Nishitetsu Fukuoka Train Station and highway bus center.

- JR Hakata Station Area
- JR Hakata Station is the main railway terminal for shinkansen (bullet train) and local trains. Directly connected with the city subway and bus terminal, this important access point is surrounded with many hotels which makes it convenient for business and sightseeing. Hakata Station is also well-equipped with a tourist information counter, restaurants and a popular shopping arcade selling various Fukuoka souvenir goods. In 2011, the station will reappear as the largest train station building in Kyushu!

- Haruyoshi and Canal City Hakata Area
- With a canal flowing through its center, this extensive shopping complex has shops, restaurants, movie theaters, hotels and musical theater. At the stage, live and street performances are held while the seasonal events and illumination are also very exciting. Located only at a 15-minutes walking distance from Tenjin and Hakata, it can also be conveniently reached by 100yen loop bus.

- Nakasu Area
- A nightlife district filled with neon lights, Nakasu is widely known as a gourmet destination spotted with stalls selling Hakata's famous delicacies along the river, well-established hideout shops and bars. The latest attracting of the area are the bars and restaurants at Nishi-Nakasu where ladies can get together and enjoy dining or drinking out. Meanwhile, the classical shopping arcade in Kawabata area conveys its past history as a vibrant trading center. It is conveniently reached by 100yen loop bus connecting between JR Hakata Station and Tenjin and subway.

- Hakata-bu Historical Area
- Being the birthplace of history and culture of Hakata, Hakata-bu still keeps the historical shrines and old townscapes despite its identity as a downtown area. Particularly Kushida Shrine, which is the guardian shrine of Hakata, is where the famous Hakata Gion Yamakasa is being held every year. With Seifuku Temple which is the first Zen temple in the country, Tocho Temple which has a giant wooden Buddha statue and Joten Temple which is the birthplace of Hakata-ori (Hakata woven textile), udon (Japanese noodle) and soba (Japanese buckwheat noodle), this area has plenty to see. It is conveniently reached by 100yen loop bus connecting between JR Hakata Station and Tenjin and subway.

- Seaside Momochi Area
- A town area at the west side of Fukuoka where the symbols of the city concentrate, such as Yahoo! Dome, Fukuoka Tower, Fukuoka City Museum and many others. There is also Hawks Town Mall shopping center and restaurants that offer panoramic ocean view. Located a stone's throw away, it is popular as a resort conveniently reached within 15 minutes by bus from Tenjin.

- Uminonakamichi and Shikanoshima Area
- Located in the middle between Hakata Bay and the Sea of Genkai, Uminonakamichi and Shikanoshima are both favorite leisure spots for families and couples. Complete with an aquarium, amusement park, large swimming pool, hotel and swimming beach, this place also offers seafood delicacies such as seafood ricebowl, turban shell dishes and many more. Although it is reachable by land route, it is recommended to go there by boat from Hakata Bay just to feel the resort excitement!
