Fukuoka boasts many traditional crafts such as Hakata-ori textile, dolls, tops, and magemono (wooden wares) which are made with techniques that have been passed down for generations. They preserve high historical and cultural values, making them a perfect souvenir. Hakata Machiya Folk Museum, a popular tourist spot, provides a hands-on experience in making Hakata-ori textile, and offers traditional crafts for sale. You can also purchase them at the shopping town “Daitos” inside JR Hakata Station and the Hakata Kawabata shopping arcade in the Nakasu Kawabata area.
