Tenjin is the central district of Fukuoka City, spotted with many department stores, fashion buildings, famous brand stores, large home electronics stores, major banks and office buildings.

Department stores and fashion buildings are mainly located along Watanabe-dori avenue, and below the ground surface of the avenue is Tenjin Underground Shopping Mall, which has more than a hundred shops and Tenjin Subway Station. This area is always busy and lively with shoppers and business persons.

The department stores and fashion buildings in Tenjin are connected with the underground mall and it is quite fun just to walk around.

In the Daimyo area, located westward of Tenjin and Imaizumi, the southward, there are fashionable restaurants, cafes and popular fashion shops. It is also a good idea to take a stroll around these areas.

Tenjin is also a hub of transportation facilities connecting Tenjin with other cities in Kyushu and popular tourist spots. You can use Tenjin Subway Station to go to Fukuoka Airport, Saga Prefecture and Karatsu.

Nishitetsu Fukuoka (Tenjin) Station is convenient if you want to visit the Dazaifu and Yanagawa area. Many buses bound for the popular tourist spots in Kyushu leave from Tenjin Bus Center.
