The station is currently under renewal construction for the full opening of the Kyushu Shinkansen (bullet train) line scheduled in 2011.

Fukuoka City Tourist Information (Hakata Station General Information Center) is located in the middle of Hakata Station concourse, and provides various kinds of information on sightseeing, accommodation and transportation in Fukuoka and other areas of Kyushu, floor information of the station building and a car rental placement service.

Here you can get tourist pamphlets of Fukuoka and other areas in Kyushu and also search updated sightseeing information of Fukuoka with ‘Yokanavi,’ a touch-panel terminal machine.

At the tourist information (Hakata Station general information center), there are staffs speaking English and Korean.
