Summary

Inside the garden

In the north side of Sumiyoshi Shrine of Hakata is this Japanese garden. There is a reconstructed tea house which was originally built in Meiji period as a second house of a merchant family. A tea ceremony room “Rakusui-en” was recreated in the house with the original atmosphere. A beautiful Japanese garden with seasonal plants and refreshing moist air surrounds the house. You can spend a relaxing and quiet time here and get a glimpse of an elegant life of the old prosperous merchant family.
