Summary

Shintencho is an old shopping mall, which started in 1946. While it is located in Tenjin, the no.1 trend setter of Kyushu, it still retains a nostalgic feel and so loved by many local residents. The widely known festival, Hakata Dontaku and other cultures of Tenjin were also born here in this mall. The contribution it has made to the development of Fukuoka is never ignorable. Some of the features attracting foreign tourists these days include the Hakata’s specialty, Motsunabe hotpot, Hakata Nagahama Ramen, kimono shop, where you can get close to traditional Japanese culture, cheap sushi shops, Ochaya (Japanese style cafe) as well as drug stores.
