Nikakudo was founded in 1952. Their most popular sweets, Hakata-no-hito, is Baumkuchen with red bean jelly inside, a blend of Japanese style sweets with western. This confection, packed in a wrapping paper with a pretty picture of a Hakata doll and traditional textile pattern, makes for a good souvenir. Other original sweets such as Hakata Potato and Hakata Nama Choco Cake (Ganache) are also popular. These products are traditional Japanese confections with a original twist.
