Meigetsudo has produced confectionaries for about 80 years by blending Japanese and Western style. The names of their products are taken form local dialect, plays and festivals. Hakata Torimon is a very popular cake with smooth jam made of fine butter and cream inside. It is the signature cake of the company. Interestingly, it is said that it gets better as it reaches its expiry date of 40 days.
