Oyama Soemon founded a confection company in the Edo period and the products have long been loved by people of Hakata. The company was designated as an exclusive provider for the lord Kuroda. Oyama Soemon the 14th succeeded in making a rice cracker into a shape of a large sake dish, inspired by the story that a man amazed the lord by drinking up a lot of sake in a large dish and was bestowed with a valuable arrow. No one had succeeded in giving a shape to rice crackers before and its method and the taste was highly praised. Kuroda Bushi Senbei (rice cracker) has since been handed down with its original producing method and taste.
