Summary
Archery Ritual
This archery ritual is a representation of an ancient legend that eight archers exterminated a monster. At the ritual, eight archers on foot shoot arrows one after another aming at a big target portrayed as a monster. The ritual is designated as an intangible cultural heritage of the prefecture. This traditional ritual is held on Sunday which is closest to the 15th of January to pray for health and safety, rich harvest and haul. The target is broken into pieces after the ritual and the visitors can take a piece home for a good-luck charm of the year.
