Walk up the Josui street past many fashionable shops, and you will find Fukuoka City Zoological Garden which is a part of Minami Park. The zoo is as old as a half century and is now undergoing renewal set to take 20 years. The zoo is divided into 5 corners and you can observe 140 kinds of animals, including endangered species such as gorillas and Oryx leucoryxs, and Raggiana Bird of Paradise which is rare to see in Japan. In the botanical garden are 2600 kinds of plants including dove trees. The panoramic view of Fukuoka city from the Ferris wheel is a great feature of the garden as well.

Access By Bus: take Nishitetsu bus No.56 or 58 and get off at Dobutsuen-iriguchi stop. Adjacent.
Or take No.57 and get off at Taiseikoko-mae stop (5 min. walk).

By Subway: take Nanakuma line and get off at Yakuin-odori station and get out from Exit 2 (15 min. walk)
During Golden Week Holidays, free courtesy buses are available from Sakurazaka station on Nanakuma subway line.
